Gabriel Bodinetz (b. 2002, London) is an artist based in North Devon. He recently graduated from Central Saint Martins with a BA in Fine Art.

Across painting, Gabriel Bodinetz explores the unstable territory between memory, perception and recognition. Working from photographic imagery, he subjects figures, objects and spaces to processes of smudging, erasure and reworking, allowing them to hover between presence and disappearance. His layered surfaces resist clarity, disrupting the authority of the photographic image and its promise of faithful representation. Blur becomes both a material process and a way of thinking, where distortion, accident and incompleteness begin to feel strangely precise. The paintings occupy a space between recollection and invention, producing images that feel less like records than fragments of something half remembered.
